PROCEDIMIENTOS PARA LA EXÉGESIS DEL NT

Introducción
En teología, la expresión exégesis, del vocablo griego é£r¡Yé°maL ("explicar", "exponer", "interpretar") expresa el acto de explicar un texto dado.
El propósito de la exégesis es precisar y entender el significado original del texto literario de un autor, o aplicar ese significado a la situación contemporánea. Puede incluir traducción, paráfrasis o comentario sobre el significado original del texto.
La exégesis del NT pertenece a la categoría de la exégesis bíblica y se denomina hermenéutica bíblica a la ciencia que gobierna los principios de la misma.

Guía para la exégesis del NT
El grado de dificultad que envuelve la tarea exegética o interpretativa de un texto neo testamentario, depende de tres variables básicas: (1) del nivel de participación del autor y de los recipientes de un mundo común de discurso y experiencias; (2) de la comunicación, que envuelve contenidos y formas especializadas de expresión; y (3) del rol del Espíritu Santo en el proceso interpretativo, que ilumina la mente del exegeta y del texto a interpretar.
A lo menos, cuatro son los factores que podrían dificultar la exégesis neo testamentaria. El primer factor tiene que ver con el hecho de que el exegeta contemporáneo no es el autor ni el receptor de la comunicación original. Intentará leer y entender el documento comunicante del NT como si fuese el autor y el receptor, lo que exige conocer el contexto histórico del autor como del receptor.
El segundo factor se vincula estrechamente con el anterior: la brecha histórica. El intérprete contemporáneo se encuentra separado física y cronológicamente del tiempo y de las circunstancias en que se escribieron los diferentes documentos del NT, lo que requiere explorar por las razones históricas, culturales y teológicas que les dieron origen.
El tercer factor se relaciona con el idioma en que se escribió el NT. Es un lenguaje diferente al del exegeta o intérprete, lo que obliga conocer la estructura, las características gramaticales, sintácticas, léxico gráficas del griego usado en el NT como de la naturaleza literaria del texto a interpretar.
El cuarto factor que podría dificultar el procedimiento exegético le constituye la existencia de múltiples y diferentes variantes textuales del mismo documento, lo que hace necesario precisar la mejor lectura textual.
En ese marco posible de dificultades, la clave para la correcta exégesis del texto se relaciona estrechamente con la habilidad exploratoria del intérprete al requerir informaciones correspondientes al texto y que contribuyan a revelar el significado o intención original del autor. Las preguntas exegéticas adecuadas
involucran dos categorías. Por un lado, preguntas de contenido (lo que se dijo) y, por el otro,preguntas de contexto (por qué se dijo).
Las preguntas contextuales son de dos tipos. Primero, interrogan por el contexto histórico del documento. Esto incluye el análisis de sus antecedentes históricos generales. Por ejemplo, de la epístola a los Romanos, se explorará acerca de la ciudad de Roma, sus orígenes, su geografía, su población, su cultura, economía, política, religión, etc. Segundo, buscan conocer los antecedentes históricos inmediatos que dieron origen al documento. Por ejemplo, de la misma epístola, se investigará por su autor, la fecha de composición y las razones por las cuales el autor escribió, etc.
Las cuestiones de contenido involucran básicamente cuatro aspectos. Primer aspecto, el exegeta tratará de determinar el texto original del autor. Segundo, intentará precisar la información léxica del autor. Es decir, el significado de las palabras usadas en el texto precisado. Tercer, analizará los detalles gramaticales del texto para comprender la relación existente entre las palabras usadas. Cuarto, procurará comprender las circunstancias históricas culturales que relacionan las palabras y conceptos a los antecedentes del autor y sus oyentes-lectores.
En consecuencia, la exégesis confiable es la que integra cuidadosamente todos estos detalles y lo informa comprensiblemente. Es una manera sistemática de interpretar lo que se ha dicho en un contexto histórico, literario y teológico en particular.
Los pasos iniciales del proceso exegético pueden variar según el género literario del documento que se desee interpretar. Sin embargo, los siguientes podrían considerarse de aplicación general.
Primer paso, investigue el contexto histórico particular del texto. Pregunte quién es el autor, los destinatarios, la relación posible entre ambos, circunstancias que ocasionaron el texto o propósitos del autor, de qué tema se trata, etc.
Segundo paso, precise los límites del texto. Determine si el texto presenta una unidad completa de pensamiento y defina a qué estructura literaria pertenece en el contexto del libro. Defina el género literario del mismo.
Tercer paso, familiarícese completamente con el texto. Para ello, (1) lea el pasaje en la versión griega varias veces hasta que su contenido le sea suficientemente familiar como para traducirlo sin ayuda léxica o gramatical. Escriba su propia traducción, usando ayuda si fuese necesaria. (2) Identifique variantes textuales, dificultades gramaticales, sintácticas y léxicas. Las variantes pueden dar un matiz diferente a la interpretación. Tome nota de los vocablos que se repiten frecuentemente. Descubra la significación teológica de los mismos. (3) Lea el texto en más de una traducción o versión contemporánea.
Cuarto paso, analice la estructura y las relaciones sintácticas del texto. Determine la naturaleza literaria y retórica del texto. Estructure el texto, precisando contrastes, paralelos, quiasmos, etc. Esto ayuda a descubrir la trama del mismo y el flujo de las ideas centrales y subordinadas.
Quinto paso, establezca el texto. Indague sobre los vocablos usados por el autor y en el orden que lo hace. Liste y estudie palabras clave y repetidas. Le será útil consultar el aparato crítico de NA26 y UBS3.
Sexto paso, examine la gramática del texto. Aunque se hace necesario analizar la gramática de todo el texto en cuestión, ponga más atención en detalles en los que se necesite una importante decisión exegética, ya que ésta podrá hacer una diferencia en la interpretación. Las siguientes preguntas podrían ayudar: ¿Se leería distinto el texto si la gramática se construyera diferente? ¿Se observan ciertas ambigüedades que dificultan la interpretación del pasaje? ¿Es la gramática del texto irregular, extraña? Si fuese así, ¿qué razón podría explicarla?
Séptimo paso, explore el significado de las palabras del texto. Las palabras son esenciales en la expresión de las ideas ya que encierran significados específicos. Sin embargo, éstas funcionan en un contexto dado. Aunque algún vocablo pueda tener un significado amplio, el intérprete tratará de precisar su significación en el contexto histórico, literario y teológico en que éste se inserta.
En ese proceso de precisión, (1) identifique palabras relevantes de su texto que necesiten estudio especial; (2) establezca los significados posibles en su propio contexto; y, finalmente, (3) analice el contexto cuidadosamente para determinar cuál de los significados parece el más adecuado en el texto que interpreta.
Octavo paso, investigue los antecedentes históricos. Cada libro del NT se ha escrito en un contexto histórico particular. Por tanto, el intérprete necesita
leerlo desde esa perspectiva, evitando hacerlo desde su propio contexto personal contemporáneo.
Podría ser útil, (1) determinar si los antecedentes del pasaje son básicamente judíos, greco-romanos, o alguna combinación de ambos contextos; (2) explorar el significado de personas, lugares, costumbres, eventos aludidos o mencionados; (3) indagar por el contexto cultural, social y otras características del autor y sus lectores, según la evidencia interna del párrafo en estudio; (4) investigar fuentes extra bíblicas secundarias que contribuyan a la comprensión de los antecedentes del texto.
Noveno paso, someta su interpretación al contexto bíblico teológico del texto. Habiendo precisado el significado original del pasaje, pregúntese cómo éste se relaciona con el contexto literario al que pertenece, o al libro en su totalidad, o al NT, o a la Biblia en su conjunto. ¿Qué otros elementos de la Escritura podrían ayudar a la convalidación de ese significado? ¿Por qué? ¿Cómo? ¿A qué creencias o doctrinas bíblicas se relaciona el significado obtenido? ¿Las contradice? ¿Cuál es la mayor contribución de su interpretación? ¿Armoniza con el consenso eclesial?
Décimo paso, permita que el Espíritu Santo guíe el proceso exegético. El intérprete bíblico se prepara para el trabajo exegético a través del bautismo diario del Espíritu Santo, quien ilumina su mente capacitándolo para entender el significado original del texto (Jn 16:13; Lc 2:27-32; 1 Cor 1:12; 2 Cor 3:15-17).
Así, lo que en principio el texto bíblico significó en su contexto original será precisamente lo que el texto significará para el intérprete y lector contemporáneo.
Décimo primer paso, use útiles de exégesis. Investigue lo que otros han hecho acerca del texto que intenta interpretar. La gran mayoría de los útiles podrán ser usados en los pasos del proceso exegético señalados previamente.
